ZONING:

Have you ever noticed that when you walk from your first floor to your second floor, or room to room, that the temperature differs? Here's why...

You most likely have one thermostat in your home, or your system needs to be split up into separate zones.

Thermostats are used to control each zone in your home or office area, so you are able to control each area separately. This way, in the winter, you can have the heat higher in busy areas of your home, such as the living room and bedrooms, while you might have the basement at a lower temperature so you're not wasting energy by heating a space that isn't being used very often.

Having a multi-zone system is actually very beneficial and allows you to manage each area of your home, or zone, separately, so you are not heating or cooling every inch of your home if certain spaces aren't being used as much. For example, you can have bedrooms on one zone, which is controlled by it's own thermostat, your basement on another zone, which is controlled by it's own thermostat, and so on. This can help save on your energy bills, since you will only be heating or cooling areas that you choose, when you choose.

Your home's heating/cooling system and zoning will determine how many thermostats you will need. At SWAT H.V.A.C, we are here to help guide you in making the right decisions for your home's heating and cooling needs, and choosing the best thermostat for your system.
